The report categorizes companies into Pulsars, Catalysts, and Luminaries. At the highest level, Luminaries are recognized for their outstanding level of proficiency and their ability to set trends in the industry. Keyless’ Luminary category reflects its leadership in biometric authentication and its innovative approach to deepfake detection.
Keyless was particularly commended for its 4-step approach.
  1. Multi-Factor by Design: A successful authentication requires both the user’s face and the original device used during enrollment, or one later tied to the account. Even if a deepfake was used, without the original device used to sign up to an account the fraudster wouldn’t be able to access it.
  2. Presentation Attack Detection (PAD): While deepfakes can mimic active checks like blinks and nods, Keyless goes beyond this by using passive checks based on a list of confidential indicators. Typical passive checks can include checking for unique textures and light reflections.
  3. Injection Attack Detection: The Keyless system also uses machine learning to identify compromised devices and biometric inconsistencies caused by spoofing tools or emulators.
  4. Behavioral Signals: By leveraging deep learning, Keyless’ system analyzes visual and motion data (such as video motion, accelerometer, and gyroscopic movements) to spot any unnatural or mismatched movements.
