This week, our co-founders had the honor of meeting Brad Smith, President and Vice Chair of Microsoft, during his visit to Rome. Hosted by Luiss Guido Carli University, the event provided a unique platform to discuss the

As a highlight, we were personally invited to meet with the Microsoft leadership team ahead of their announcement of a

Adding to the excitement, Keyless was recently selected for Microsoft’s prestigious

Kickstart Innovation is known for its role in fostering collaboration between startups and established corporations. Since its inception in 2016, the platform has facilitated over 310 deals and supported more than 450 startups, with a focus on driving innovation in areas such as AI, blockchain, and cybersecurity.

 has launched a new feature that automatically enrolls users into its system during their identity verification (IDV) process through automated backend procedures. According to the company, the Keyless IDV Bridge eliminates the need for separate enrollment procedures.

Traditionally, the process of identity verification involves a one-time step where users confirm their identity by providing a selfie and uploading an ID. This is followed by the need to use biometric data to authenticate themselves for various activities, such as logging in, making transactions, and recovering accounts. Historically, these steps required separate enrollments.

The introduction of the Keyless IDV Bridge lets providers include 

 into their existing systems. Companies working with multiple identity verification providers can use the IDV Bridge to integrate with various systems in one deployment.

Paolo Gasti, CTO and co-founder of Keyless, highlights the impact of this new feature, stating, “The Keyless IDV Bridge marks a significant achievement in the identity management space. Andrea Carmignani, Co-founder and CEO of Keyless, was recently featured in an

 approach to digital identity management—a timely innovation amid growing concerns over data privacy and security.

Andrea explained how the Keyless system, which eschews traditional passwords in favor of biometric technology, generates cryptographic keys tied uniquely to a user's face and device. This method is the first to combine on-device biometrics and cloud storage, the two existing biometric authentication technologies, effectively protecting against identity theft, account takeovers, and fraud—particularly critical in applications such as home banking and payment platforms.

Throughout the interview, Andrea emphasized the relevance of their technology in light of the 2023 Artificial Intelligence Act, which sets comprehensive, safe, and rights-respecting rules for AI use in Europe, including limitations on biometric identification.
