In its report, Gartner organizes these technologies into three key strategic pillars: Truth and Provenance, Narrative, Identity and Governance, and Real-Time Threat Interception. Part of the Narrative, Identity and Governance pillar, “biometric continuous identity assurance is critical for denying attackers their primary vector — impersonating legitimate users.”

Gartner describes the technology category as follows:

Unlike traditional one-time authentication (e.g., entering a password at login), continuous identity assurance persists in the background, repeatedly evaluating biometric signals to detect any anomalies indicative of impersonation or unauthorized activity, including sophisticated deepfake attacks or shoulder surfing.

Keyless is founded on the principle of biometric continuous identity assurance. Whenever Keyless is triggered during the user journey, the user’s face and device are matched against those created during the KYC process – or securely linked afterward.

For example, when a user performs a risky action inside an app, such as accessing sensitive details or making a payment, Keyless prompts the user for a biometric selfie and checks that it’s the same user that opened the account. This ensures ongoing identity verification and prevents unauthorized access.

The report outlines three key recommendations for organizations looking to combat disinformation at scale. Among them is a call to:
